Maxwell Miller Wins Best in Show

Congratulations to alumnus Maxwell Miller for being awarded Best in Show in the Richeson75 Small Works 2025 competition! Juror Natalie Featherston had the following to say about Maxwells piece, The Touch of Midas:

“What an amazing painting this is! It rings all the bells for what it means to be an exceptional ‘small work’. At only 8 x 6″, it’s a jewel of a painting. The obvious technical brilliance is clear, but what I love even more is the intimacy of the piece, where perspective pulls you right into the scene, nose to nose with Midas. There’s also a wonderful and compelling narrative where Midas exalts in his own golden reflection and riches. The play on focus versus blur to further the story shows a mastery of technical skill and conceptual execution, and all of these elements led me to select ‘The Touch of Midas’ by Maxwell Miller as Best in Show for the 2025 Richeson 75 Small Works.”

The Richeson75 International Art Competitions were designed by Jack Richeson & Co. in conjunction with the Richeson School of Art & Gallery to offer a venue for emerging and established artists to show their best works. For each competition (online or in person), 75 artists are selected as finalists, and from those finalists, the top awards are selected.
