ÀNI Art Academies Waichulis apprentice Garret McCall has completed the drawing portion of the program after dedicating 114 days to his capstone project. The ambitious work marks a significant milestone in McCall’s progression through the curriculum.
In addition to completing the capstone drawing, McCall applied his background in videography to produce a companion video that highlights the conceptual foundation and personal significance of the piece. The project reflects themes drawn from his Catholic faith, a subject that frequently informs his artistic explorations.
Through both image and film, McCall’s capstone underscores the integration of technical development and personal narrative that defines the culmination of the drawing program at ÀNI.
The Bread of Angels reflects the gift of the Eucharist, given to us on earth and adored by angels in heaven. The presence of God is the presence of heaven, and in this mystery, we are invited to pause, wonder, and draw near.
The Bread of Angels is a 19 by 12 inch black-and-white charcoal drawing. It took 114 days to complete and seeks to capture the awe and devotion surrounding Christ’s real presence in the Eucharist.
