Students from our youth art classes in Thailand recently performed during National Thai Language Day and they invited our Thailand team to attend the performance. National Thai Language Day is an important cultural event, to learn more about it, read below:
National Thai Language Day is meant to remember the importance of the Thai language. Around the year 1826, King Ramkhamhaeng the Great invented “Thai letters” for the first time. Adapted from the Mon and Khmer letters, it has consonants, vowels, and tones to represent various meanings and sounds in the Thai language, which later developed into the “Thai alphabet” that we use today.
Having your language used in the country indicates the identity and the passing on of linguistic culture from generation to generation to last forever. Educational institutions organize activities on National Thai Language Day every year, such as organizing exhibitions related to the Thai language, allow students to write slogans, Compose prose-poetry and essay contests on National Thai Language Day, etc. Teachers and Instructors often organizes academic discussions about learning and teaching the Thai language. This exchange of knowledge promotes the use of the Thai language for the Thai students.
