Ani Art Academies would like to congratulate Nakorn Sriphet on being chosen for the Student of The Week.  Mr. Sriphet is excelling under the instruction of Ani Thailand Dean, Rodney O’Dell Davis, as he confidently works through the curriculum.  Please read more about Mr. Sriphet below, and stay tuned to aniartacademies.org, as we look forward to sharing his first drawing with you!                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      Nakorn Sriphet came from the east coast of Thailand, Cholburi Province, and was born into a soldier’s family. He was interested in art and started to learn about it from a neighbor. Since he was 10 years old, he created caricatures to sell in his neighborhood area. After finishing junior high school, he continued his education at Cholburi Vocational School in the faculty of fine art. He won many student awards during his education, including 2nd prize from The Regional Skill Contest of Drawing & Sculpture. Consequently, he earned a scholarship to study at Burapha University, Chonburi. After studying drawing and painting at the university, Nakorn decided to quit the school and work full-time in Art Development at Phuket Fantasy. Nakorn decided that job was not his caliber, and that he had to make a big change again. He rented a little corner in Phuket Walking Street and created caricature to sell, as he did for many years before. One day, his brother showed him the brochure from Ani Art Academy on Koh Yao Noi. He decided to pursue this chance, and now, he is one of the young artists at Ani Art Academy Thailand.

In a two-part series, Anthony Waichulis discusses pictorial composition and how the majority of educational information regarding it is often inconsistent, influenced by personal taste, and with lack of evidence to support it.  Instead, we can turn to biology and the role that it has in the facilitation of viable communication and the experience of aesthetic quality.  To read both articles, So What’s With Jane Already and To the Makers of Music - All Worlds, All Times, please visit anthonywaichulis.com.

On Saturday, March 12, Ani Art Academy Anguilla hosted an event for Anguilla Woman Week. The evening gave the attendees a chance to see paintings by Frances Bradley, and a preview of Womanhood or Woman’s-Hurt?: A Documentary, which explores the intimate and personal story of Bradley, a visual and performing artist. The documentary visually details her stages of healing by way of a 12-piece series illustrating the night she was sexually assaulted. The film unfolds from the beginning, at the tender age of 18 when she opened the door welcoming in someone she trusted and knew. Now, 13 years later, she shares her deepest, and most intimate secrets that night. Through words from her daily journaling and visual reflections, this documentary will be the voice to her complimentary exhibition that will remove victim from her experience and instead replace it with empowered. The purpose of the film is to encourage women to reflect without fear and relate to one another through experience while healing. While never dismissing that this level of trauma is difficult, through personal interviews, Bradley explores her ups and downs with acceptance, forgiveness, pain, shame and her process to heal from the inside out. Now, a survivor and woman living in the fast paced and gritty city of NYC, we explore the resilience she’s developed, navigating her everyday life while staying committed to her life’s purpose; activism, healing herself and others with her story through artistry.
