ÀNI Art Academies’ Instructor and Co-founder Anthony Waichulis will be one of several guest lecturers and portfolio reviewers at the 2025 IX Art Show and Convention.
Anthony’s lecture, Taming a Chimera, challenges the romance of “finding your style” with a stricter, testable claim: style isn’t a treasure to discover or a costume to wear; it’s the emergent fingerprint of your repeated decisions—the way your chosen elements cohere (or collide) across a single creative effort or a body of work. We’ll separate style from its colloquial look-alikes (technique, genre, movement, branding, stylization), expose how mixed-element sets can generate cue conflicts—the stylistic “chimera”, and map strategies to deliberately shape a style that’s both engaging and coherent.
Learn more about IX below:
Founded in 2008, IX is the first, ground-breaking art show, symposium, and celebration dedicated solely to imaginative realism—bringing artists, students, collectors, and art fans together for an annual gathering intended to inspire and create further awareness and zeal for imaginative realism and all that’s encompassed in the realm of the fantastic.
As the largest display of original imaginative realist art in the world, IX is an entirely unique experience where artists are free to participate in the show just as attendees and students do, students have the opportunity to sign up for private portfolio reviews by industry art directors and galleries, and all present have numerous opportunities to be inspired by and grow in love for the vast array of work and people in this incredible field.
