Recent ÀNI Graduate’s Creative Skills Featured in Major Motion Picture

Kelvin Lugo, a recent ÀNI Art Academies graduate, was part of the team that brought the movie, The Lost City to life. Released March 2022, the movie stars Sandra Bullock, Channing Tatum, Brad Pitt, and Daniel Radcliffe.

The movie was filmed throughout the Dominican Republic, and Kelvin worked as part of the team at Pinewood Cinema Studios near San Pedro de Macorís, which created and painted many of the set pieces. The most important to note is the temple featured in the movie’s climax. Kelvin shares a bit more about his experience and working as an artist in the TV and film industry.

“As an artist, I have worked on numerous projects related to creating art. One of them was as a scenic painter at Pinewood Cinema Studios. This job is truly enjoyable because it involves imitating and understanding how Mother Nature works, aging items, creating fake rocks, building old houses, and recreating historical eras. Although I have only worked on two movies, I have gained a wealth of knowledge about the filmmaking process. I’ve been fortunate to work with materials I never thought I would, and my first cinema project was Lost City. In this movie, I worked on painting various scenes, including an old temple, a large mountain, an airplane, and a submarine cave.”
