Julia Poncavage Wins 2022 Congressional Art Competition

Congratulations to Julia Poncavage (ÀNI Art Academies Waichulis Apprentice) for winning first place at the 2022 Congressional Art Competition! Julia, a senior at Crestwood High School, won first place for her oil painting titled Visions of Blue. Her artwork will represent Pennsylvania’s Eighth Congressional District in Washington, where it will hang in a highly trafficked area of the Capitol along with the winners from across the United States to be viewed by Members of Congress, distinguished guests, visitors, and tourists.

Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent in the nation and each congressional district. Since the competition began in 1982, more than 650,000 high school students have participated. Students submit entries to their representative’s office, and panels of district artists select the winning entries. Winners are recognized both in their district and at an annual awards ceremony in Washington, DC. The winning works are displayed for one year at the U.S. Capitol.
