ÀNI Art Academies Anguilla Hosts “Art Arise: GBV Awareness Through Art Competition & Exhibition”

ÀNI Art Academies Anguilla was honored to host Art Arise: GBV Awareness Through Art, a powerful exhibition celebrating artistic voices committed to addressing and challenging gender-based violence (GBV) within the community. The event formed part of Art Arise, an initiative developed by the Anguillan Gender Affairs Unit to broaden public engagement and extend the reach of its advocacy work through creative expression.

Designed to move beyond traditional awareness campaigns, Art Arise emphasizes the role of art as a catalyst for cultural reflection, social responsibility, and meaningful dialogue. This year’s theme, “Draw the Line Against Gender-Based Violence,” called on artists across Anguilla to confront harmful norms, amplify survivor voices, and inspire collective action through visual language.

The response from the artistic community was both thoughtful and compelling. A total of nine (9) works were submitted across two categories, each offering a distinct and impactful interpretation of the theme. Notably, three of the five award-winning works were created by ÀNI Anguilla Artists, underscoring the strength of the Academies’ growing artistic community.
