Capturing Realism Asia 2026 Opens to an Enthusiastic Crowd in Colombo

Capturing Realism Asia 2026 officially opened at the Lionel Wendt Art Centre in Colombo, Sri Lanka, on October 3, welcoming an enthusiastic crowd for an evening celebrating contemporary realism and the accomplishments of ÀNI artists throughout Asia.

The opening was a wonderful success, with a strong turnout of visitors filling the gallery to view the collection, meet the artists, and experience the exhibition firsthand. The energy and support throughout the evening made for an exciting start to this year’s exhibition.

Featuring works by artists from ÀNI Art Academies Sri Lanka and Thailand, Capturing Realism Asia 2026 brings together an impressive collection of drawings and paintings demonstrating technical skill, dedication, and a diverse range of artistic voices. Guests had the opportunity to explore the works up close while connecting with artists and fellow members of the arts community.

This year’s exhibition marks the second Capturing Realism Asia exhibition presented in Sri Lanka, building upon the success of the inaugural event in 2024. Seeing so many people come together for the opening once again demonstrated the enthusiasm and appreciation for contemporary realism within the region.

We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who attended the opening and helped make the evening such a success, as well as to all of the participating artists, instructors, staff, and supporters whose hard work made the exhibition possible.

Capturing Realism Asia 2026 remains on view through October 18, 2026, at the Lionel Wendt Art Centre in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Explore the Exhibition Online: Please view the Capturing Realism Asia 2026 Online Catalog here: LINK
