Ani Art Academy Waichulis Apprentices started off the “spooky” holiday with life drawing session, where our beautiful model, Shaina Walker, who was dressed as a cat woman. All the Apprentices were in costumes of a ghost, little devil, the day of the dead, etc.. Let the goosebumps spread, and the hairs stand up on and let the candy fill your dreams. We wish you an eerie, spooky, hair-raising, spell-binding Halloween!

Ani Art Academy Waichulis Alumni Victoria Steel is showcasing her works at the ILLUXCON 2017. Founded in 2008, IX is the first, ground-breaking art show, symposium, and celebration dedicated solely to imaginative realism—bringing artists, students, collectors, and art fans together for an annual gathering intended to inspire and create further awareness and zeal for imaginative realism and all that’s encompassed in the realm of the fantastic. As the largest display of original imaginative realist art in the world, IX is an entirely unique experience where artists are free to participate in the show just as attendees and students do. Ani Art Academies Apprentices enjoyed cast drawing session at the Pauly Friedman Art Gallery at the Misericordia University. The gallery joined major art galleries around the world in celebration of French sculptor Auguste Rodin (1840-1917) with the exhibit, "Rodin: Portraits of a Lifetime-Selections from the Iris & B. Gerald Cantor Collections. Misericordia University welcomes all art students to visit and practice cast drawing skills and admire the extraordinary talent of Rodin.  Who is considered to be the greatest sculptor since Michelangelo. To schedule a drawing session, please contact Alexandra Isaac at aisaac@misericordia.edu. It’s that time again Ani Apprentices! Deadline is approaching fast. Submit your entries into 13th international arc salon competition soon. This year ARC introducing a 9th category dedicated to plein air painting, as well as a few new exciting awards. The most prestigious realist art competition in the Americas and perhaps the world, the International ARC Salon offers over $100,000 in cash awards and International recognition through partnerships with prestigious magazines, galleries, museum exhibitions, and a strong online presence. All winners, honorable mentions, and finalists will have their entries accompanied by their name displayed on the ARC website and will also be featured in the 13th International ARC Salon Catalogue. In addition, all winners and honorable mentions will receive an Award Certificate suitable for framing. Good Luck!

We are so proud of our apprentices Victoria Steel, Jason, Brady, Andrea Bills, Barbara Fox, and Taffari Crawford to be exhibited at the European Museum of Modern Art in Barcelona. All of them are winners of various awards at the 12th International ARC Salon Competition, which is the most prestigious realist art competition in the Americas and perhaps the world. MEAM museum is the first museum to display and promote contemporary figurative art exclusively. 75 works were chosen for the live version of the ARC Salon Exhibition. The exhibition will be on view at the MEAM Museum, Barcelona, Spain from September 23 - November 27, 2017.

Ani Art Academy Waichulis apprentices visited Brandywine River Museum of Art to view the Andrew Wyeth In Retrospect Exhibit. The Brandywine River Museum is a museum of regional and American art. The museum showcases the art of Andrew Wyeth, a major American realist painter, and his family: his father N.C. Wyeth, illustrator of many children’s classics, and his son Jamie Wyeth, a contemporary American realist painter. Our apprentices enjoyed the exhibit and got inspired by the beautiful works. The museum building itself is unique; it is converted nineteenth-century mill with a dramatic steel and glass addition overlooking the banks of the Brandywine River. The Ani Art Academy Waichulis Studio is happy to welcome Marion Snowdon, Long-Distance Apprentice for her second visit to the Academy. Ms. Snowdon has been working through the Waichulis Curriculum from her home in Australia for close to two years and made the long trip to Pennsylvania to work in person with her Long-Distance teacher, Ani Senior Apprentice Dan Christian.  Marion visited for ten days, and thoroughly enjoyed her time at the studio.  If you would like more information on how to become a Long-Distance Apprentice, please send a request for information to anya@aniartacademies.org.

Thank you, everyone, for coming out to the opening of Capturing Realism 2017. It was a great turnout; over 1400 people attached the opening to show the support for the Ani Art Academies efforts. This year’s exhibit is one of the biggest in recent years. Over 70 works of art and over 50 skilled artists from around the globe participating in the show. Capturing Realism is a wildly popular biennial exhibition of realistic paintings and drawings celebrating the efforts of the Ani Art Academies (formerly The Waichulis Studio) for nearly 20 years.This year's exhibition, Capturing Realism 2017, will bring together over 50 skilled artists from around the globe. Ani Art Academy Waichulis welcomed its first Summer Mentorship Program apprentice Morgan Masters a student of Lake Lehman High School, Lehman Township, Luzerne County, PA.  Ani Art Academies Apprentice Chelsea Herron is Morgan’s mentor, started her studies with a life model portrait session. The Waichulis Curriculum Summer Mentorship Program (WSMP) is an educational service offered to select candidates that are logistically paired with an approved WSMP instructor who is versed in the Waichulis Core training program. Ani Art Academy Waichulis would like to welcome new apprentice Mitchell Bagnas. Mitchell was born in Turlock, California and raised in Hanover Township, Pennsylvania. In the early age of 12, Mitchell knew he wanted to become an artist. Sketching on place mats, store receipts, school desks, and anything else that he could find. After high school, he enrolled in the Painting & Illustration program at the Luzerne County Community College. There he was introduced to the fundamentals of drawing and painting. After graduating with an Associate Degree, Mitchell was excepted into the Ani Art Academy Waichulis. We are excited about the opportunity to get to know him, please make him feel welcome and say hello.

Ani Art Academies joins the Da Vinci Initiative and other Atelier schools for the Atelier Art Education Day at the Salmagundi Club, New York, New York. The day was about encouraging high school students about Atelier skills. Anthony Waichulis along with other instructors provided portfolio reviews to the students, who were eager to hear that they are capable of achieving quality skills with appropriate training. There was a broad spectrum of artworks presented for review.  The Da Vinci Initiative is an education foundation that supports skill-based learning in K-12 art classrooms. The Da Vinci Initiative believes that the most creative children are those with the most tools at their disposal for making artwork, and provides atelier training and resources to art teachers to help them incorporate skill-based methods into their classroom practices. More than a hundred high school students visited the Salmagundi Club and had a chance to view 12th Annual ARC Salon Exhibit, which, undoubtedly, inspired them to pursue their passion for art.

We are very excited to see beautiful works from Ani Art Academies Apprentices displayed at the Salmagundi Club, New York. All works won various awards in the 12th Annual ARC Salon competition. Chairman's Choice Award: Jason Brady for his painting Slave to Myself. ARC Purchase Award: Victoria Steel for her drawing The Threads of Discord, Andrea Bills for her drawing Waiting For Alice, and Barbara Fox her drawing Carra. ARC Staff Award: Taffari Crawford for his drawing Under Heaven and Kevin A. Moore for his painting The Transcendence. ARC Salon Exhibition, consists of 82 Contemporary Realist works selected from an original 3,100 entries from 63 countries. It is the most prestigious realist art competition in the Americas and perhaps the world. ARC will be choosing approximately 75 works for the live version of the ARC Salon that will travel from the Salmagundi Club, New York, New York where it will be on exhibition from May 12th - June 1st of 2017, to The MEAM Museum in Barcelona, Spain where it will be on view from September 23rd - November 27th, 2017.
