Ani Art Academies are excited to announce that the work of Ani Art Academy Waichulis apprentices Victoria Steel and Andrea Bills and Long Distance Learner Barbara Fox have all been selected to join the Art Renewal Center International Traveling Exhibition.  This live version on the ARC Salon will begin its journey at the Salmagundi Club in New York City before traveling to the MEAM Museum in Barcelona, Spain.  Awards for the winners of the ARC Salon, one of the most important competitions for representational art, will be distributed as the show wraps up in Barcelona.  Congratulations to Victoria, Andrea, and Barbara, we are certainly proud of you ladies!

Congratulations to Ani Art Academy Waichulis artist Victoria Steel on being juried into the 2017 Illuxcon Main Show.  Ms. Steel will join a lineup of imaginative realist artists as they share their work at the 10th anniversary of the fine art symposium. Illuxcon is dedicated to bringing artists, students, collectors, and art fans together for an annual gathering intended to inspire and create further awareness and zeal for imaginative realism and all that’s encompassed in the realm of the fantastic. The work of Ani Art Academies’ Anthony Waichulis was showcased in the American Art Collector exhibition preview, “Attention to Detail.” The show kicks off on January 6th and runs through February 28th at Robert Lange Studios in Charleston, South Carolina.  The exhibition boasts an array of renowned painters who work in realistic styles.  For more information please visit Robert Lange Studios.

Ani apprentices Nakorn Sriphet and Mingpieng-or Pinpart joined Dean Rodney O’Dell Davis at the Art Institute Phuket Limelight Art Exhibit to speak to potential students about the Ani Art Academy Thailand opportunity. The apprentices did a fantastic job in sharing their experiences with the students and gave them a firsthand glimpse into what it is like to be an Ani Thailand artist. Ani Art Academies would like to congratulate Ani Waichulis artist Phil Kidd on the completion of his Gauntlet project.  Mr. Kidd is the latest apprentice to wrap up the Language of Drawing portion of the curriculum and to move onto the Language of Painting.  Congratulations to Phil on this wonderful accomplishment!

Another successful Research and Presentation Meeting was held last month at Ani Art Academies Waichulis.  The insightful presentations included a walkthrough of Adobe’s Lightroom by Phil Kidd, an introduction to basic design principles by Edward Ewald, and a thoroughly enjoyed primer on how to make realistic fake blood for reference work by Dan Christian.  The Research and Presentation Meeting series is held each month and all are welcome to attend.  Please contact Stephanie@aniartacademies.org for more information!

Ani Art Academy Anguilla Dean, Timothy Jahn, was thrilled to spend a day with the children of St. Maarten when he attended a career fair held on the island last month.  Ani Art Academy Anguilla apprentices Elizardo Mojica and Gineece Gumbs were featured in an article published in “The Anguillan” newspaper last week. The story showcased both artist’s final drawing projects, Ms. Gumbs’ Mr. Hall and Mr. Mojica’s First Jump, and gave congratulations on their completion of the Language of Drawing program.  Thank you to “The Anguillan” for sharing these wonderful artworks and accomplishments with the people of Anguilla!  We are so excited for Elizardo and Gineece and look forward to their painting creations. Ani Art Academies would like to extend congratulations to Ani Waichulis Artist Stephen Sebald, the latest apprentice to complete the charcoal drawing portion of the curriculum.  Mr. Sebald will now move on to the Language of Painting where he will work to develop fundamental oil painting skills. Imaginative realism fans attending Illuxcon IX were thrilled to attend the latest workshop from Anthony Waichulis, Painting for Biology.  The workshop, held at Goggleworks in Reading, Pennsylvania, drew a diverse crowd that thoroughly enjoyed the cursory walkthrough of the many exciting and insightful contributions from modern vision science, empirical aesthetics, neuroaesthetics, cognitive psychology and evolutionary psychology that can augment or replace many of the long-standing heuristics that continue to guide contemporary compositional efforts.  For more information on upcoming workshops hosted by Anthony Waichulis, please visit The Waichulis Studio Store.
